Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord
Landscape Park Duisburg Nord
The „Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord” is a huge landscape park around a former smelting works in Duisburg-Meiderich (Germany), finally shut down in 1985. As a participant of an international architectural competition, the landscape architects Peter Latz + Partner convinced the jury with their concept of elaborating the given industrial past („genius loci”) embedded in a landscape park with predominantly natural vegetal evolution.
Today, the park with its impressive, over 70 m high (and accessible!) facilities is a 24 hour chill out location for young and old. It gained an outstanding reputation and is considered as one of the best urban parks in the world.
